The Department of Human Resources Development (DHRD) deals with issues related to Education, Sports and Youth Affairs. The DHRD covers (a) pre-primary, elementary, secondary, higher secondary, higher, technical, agriculture and allied sectors, public health, medical and teacher training; (b) formal and non-formal education including adult literacy; (c) areas of special focus such as education for girls, Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Minorities and also Children with Special Needs; and (d) Youth Affairs and Sports.
